BEAUTY SLEEP? IT'S TOTALLY LEGIT.

BEAUTY SLEEP? IT'S TOTALLY LEGIT.

There’s a lot of advice out there when it comes to beauty — mainly what products to use and how to use them. But there’s one (free!) thing that often fails to get the attention it deserves: SLEEP. Yep! Getting some quality zzz’s is the secret to looking and feeling your best.

First off, we just want to establish some ground rules. When it comes to quality sleep, the magic number is seven to nine hours. And it needs to be restorative, which is when you enter deep sleep and REM sleep. During these stages, your body creates and repairs cells, flushes toxins, processes emotions and more. Yeah, it’s pretty important.

Now onto the beauty specifics.

First up? A good night’s rest can fix puffy eyes. This is because they’re often caused by a buildup of fluid that’s the result of inadequate sleep. They can also be due to sleeping flat on your back or stomach. Try adding an extra pillow so that your head’s at an angle.

Sleep can also give you a radiant glow. While you sleep, your body pumps new blood to the skin, making it look rosy and youthful. Get too little (or too much) sleep, and your skin can end up looking dull, drab and lifeless.

And remember when we mentioned how restorative sleep repairs cells? That’s especially the case for your skin. It’s bombarded by things like pollution and UV rays all day long, and any damage that’s been done is healed while you snooze.

If you’re having trouble sleeping, we’ve got a few tips: Avoid caffeine at nighttime, turn your phone off an hour before you go to sleep and establish a bedtime routine (this can include a calming skincare regimen!). If you need an extra little push, our Relax & Sleep supplements can help. They include ingredients like melatonin and magnesium which are going to help you get that deep, restorative beauty sleep you deserve.*
