General description:

Irvingia gabonensis is a derived from the seeds of the plant known as African mango.

 

Functions and general science:

In general, the seeds are comparatively high in fatty acids with a lower carbohydrate, protein, and dietary fibre content. The fatty acid component appears to be mostly medium chain triglycerides, similar to coconut oil.

Nutritional profiles show that it is also a source of vitamin C, iron, calcium, magnesium and zinc.
