General description:

The bilberry is a leafy shrub that is native to northern Europe, United States and Canada. It produces similar fruit to common blueberries. The berries are purple-black in colour and contain many small, shiny seeds.


Functions and general science:

Bilberry contains a range of antioxidant compounds, including anthocyanidins, anthocyanins, anthocyanosides, flavonoids and resveratrol.  It is commonly used for eye and vein health.
