General description:

Chromium is a trace mineral essential for health and wellbeing. Dietary sources include wholegrains, broccoli and brewer’s yeast.  Though the content of chromium in food is largely dependent upon the content in soil so therefore has potential to vary, especially in Australia where soil is often low in this mineral.


Functions and general science:

Chromium is absorbed in the small intestine and excreted mainly by the kidneys. Its main actions are mostly related to it’s role in blood sugar control and regulation. It is also required for the metabolism of protein, carbohydrates and fat.
