As far back as 1652 oats, as a poultice, were being applied to help with itchy skin. In more recent time oats have gained a healthy reputation as a ‘superfood’ due to their nutitional content – B vitamins, protein, fat, minerals as well as beta-glucan, the heart-healthy soluble fiber.


Functions and general science:

Traditional herbal medicine prescribes oats as a nutritive nervine, recommended for nervous system support often during times of exhaustion and convalescence.  When enjoyed regularly in the diet oats provide a significant amount of soluble fibre which positively impacts cardiovascular health.  When applied topically oats are soothing to for itchy skin conditions.
