General description:

Withania, also known as ashwagandha, has a long history of use in Ayurvedic medicine. Ashwagandha means ‘Smell of Horse,’ which refers to the fresh root’s distinct horsey smell, and the traditional belief that consuming this herb will impart the strength and virility of a horse.


Functions and general science:

Withania is an adaptogenic herb. Adaptogens work to help the body’s resilience and adaptation to physical, mental and environmental stress.  Withania has also been shown to help reduce cortisol levels when they are elevated during times of stress.
